Score
A sourdough bake tracker.
You pull out the loaf that finally worked, and you have no idea what you did. Score keeps the bake as you go, so the good one can happen again.
iPhone, Android, or straight in your browser.
Five stages, one screen at a time
A bake is long and it happens around the rest of your day. Score breaks it into five stages and shows you one moment at a time — what to do now, how long it takes, and nothing else competing for the space.
- Build the starter — log your starter, flour and water, and set a reminder to check on it
- Mix the dough — measurements, flour, stretch and folds, and the bulk ferment
- Cold proof — long, slow, patient
- Bake — preheat, covered, uncovered, each with its own timer
- Rest and score — rate the loaf on crust, crumb, rise, texture and flavour
Timers keep running with the app closed, and the stretch-and-fold timers run on their own schedule. Change the number of folds partway through and the timing follows.
What you set is what it keeps
Every amount, every duration, every photograph is marked where you set it, so nothing in the record is a surprise later. A number Score suggested looks different from a number you chose — because the first is a starting point and the second is yours.
At the end you get a score out of five across crust, crumb, rise, texture and flavour, and each part says what moves it most.
No shame, no jargon
You do not need to know what autolyse means. Every term has a plain-language definition a tap away, and every piece of equipment has a substitute — so nothing here requires you to own the expensive version first.
A dense loaf is not a failure, it is a message. Score is built to tell you which one.
Free, and what is not
The whole bake flow is free, with no ads and no limits. Start a bake, photograph your starter at four in the morning, time your folds, score every loaf.
Score Coach is optional, and it is one thing: reading your bakes back. Every finished bake opens as a full record — your photos, the formula, and each stage with its timings, rise and notes. The numbers you actually used, down to the oven temperature and the hours on the counter. Start a new bake from a past one, or turn a finished loaf and its score into a picture you can send.
$1.99 a month or $14.99 a year, with a seven-day trial. Everything else stays free.
Flour, water, salt. That's all a masterpiece takes.
